England are set to play Pakistan in a 7-match long T20I series. Moeen Ali is set to captain the side in the first game at Karachi and it would be a historic occasion for him to lead the England side in the land where his grandfather belonged from.
Writing about his heritage and experiences, Ali in a column for the Daily Mail said that Pakistan is going to be his most special tour.
"I have been privileged enough to do many overseas trips as an England cricketer from Australia to South Africa to the Caribbean but this tour to Pakistan might be the most special of the lot," the player said.
"It is going to be memorable playing in front of the Pakistani crowds and also an immense honour to deputise for Jos Buttler, while he recovers from injury, and captain England," he further added.
Talking about the legacy of his family, Moeen said that his cricket comes from the rich heritage of Asian style.
"For those who do not know, my family background is both English and Pakistani. In fact, my late grandmother was called Betty Cox but I reckon the cricketing side of me definitely comes from my Pakistani side," he said.

Hours after the Tarique Rahman-led BNP government was sworn in, newly appointed state minister for sports, Aminul Haque, said he wanted cases against Awami League-loyalist cricketers, Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, resolved so that they could return to cricket. The former Bangladesh captains served as Awami League MPs and face multiple charges.
