Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called for an early end to the Ukraine and US-Israel-Iran wars, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only way to resolve conflicts. The Prime Minister's remarks assume significance as the Middle East plunged into chaos following US-Israeli strikes against Iran on February 28 that triggered retaliatory attacks by Tehran.
Addressing a joint press conference with Finland President Alexander Stubb in Delhi, PM Modi said both countries shared a firm belief in the rule of law and that they will continue to push for long-lasting peace in Ukraine and in the Middle East.
“India and Finland share a strong commitment to the rule of law, dialogue and diplomacy. We firmly believe that military conflicts cannot resolve disputes. This applies equally to situations in Ukraine and West Asia. We hope for an early end to the wars and will continue to support efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace,” PM Modi said.
He highlighted global instability from Ukraine to West Asia and noted that India and Europe were entering a “golden era” of partnership for stability and prosperity.
“Today, the world is going through a period of instability and uncertainty. Conflict persists in many parts of the world, from Ukraine to West Asia. In such a global environment, India and Europe, two of the world's major diplomatic powers, are entering a golden era in our relationship. Our growing cooperation is giving new strength to global stability, development, and shared prosperity,” PM Modi said.
