Meet Thumki, a stray dog who calls Kolkata's Taj Bengal home
India Today
A dog named Thumki, born on the Taj Bengal hotel campus in Kolkata, has become an integral part of the hotel community, winning the affection of guests and staff.
At Taj Bengal, one of the most adored figures isn’t a celebrity guest or a visiting dignitary; it’s Thumki, the four-legged guardian who has quietly claimed the hotel as her own.
Thumki recently went viral after a video showed her happily prancing through the hotel’s grand lobby. The caption, written in her voice, read: “@tajbengal - an annexure of Thumki estate, where hoomans come from afar and stay in exchange for some paper that can be used to get treats. I have to periodically take rounds to see if all my staff are working as promised. I mean business when it comes to treats.”

The hotel’s official Instagram account responded warmly: “Always a pleasure to be under such watchful supervision. Treat standards duly noted.”
Born on the hotel campus to her mother Chumki, Thumki chose to stay back even after her sister found a new home. Over time, she has become an inseparable part of the Taj Bengal family, winning hearts with her gentle presence and playful authority.

Oil and gas refineries and hubs are up in flames not just in the Middle East, but also in Russia and the US. Crude oil prices have surged over $100 a barrel. With the energy infrastructure in the Middle East likely to take years to be rebuilt, the world could be set for the biggest oil disruption in history.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said the United States was in contact with "the right people" in Iran and suggested that Tehran was eager to reach an agreement to halt hostilities. "We're in negotiations right now," he told reporters, without offering further details on the scope or format of the talks.
