Ryan Gosling’s newest costar is high-maintenance, had an entourage around him at all times and required his own wardrobe department on set.

He’s also a space alien.

“He is in the hotel right now in the presidential suite. I kid you not. He’s not here with me doing press,” Gosling jokes about Rocky, the rocklike, spidery creature who’s the fellow lead in the sci-fi adventure “Project Hail Mary” (in theaters March 20). 

In the movie directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, middle-school science teacher Ryland Grace is sent into space to figure out how to counteract an organism that consumes the sun’s light at such a degree that Earth faces an ice age in mere decades. Grace wakes up from his space coma to find himself in another solar system, all alone; his fellow crew members died during the trip.
