Gotta go fast: Sonic the Hedgehog is racing back to theaters, and one of Ben Schwartz's old "Parks and Recreation" buddies will be along for the ride.
A logo, brief teaser and cast list for the fourth "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie has been unveiled, confirming Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik, Keanu Reeves' Shadow and Idris Elba's Knuckles will all return alongside James Marsden's Tom Wachowski and Schwartz's Sonic.
Newcomers for the fourth installment include Nick Offerman, who starred as Ron Swanson alongside Schwartz's Jean-Ralphio Saperstein on the NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation." Offerman's "Sonic" role was not disclosed.
Also joining the cast this time are Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Richard Ayoade and Kristen Bell. Bell, who also had a three-episode role on "Parks and Recreation," will lend her voice to Amy Rose, the pink hedgehog character who popped up in the credits scene of the previous film.
Based on the popular video games, "Sonic the Hedgehog" has turned into a hugely successful movie franchise since its first big-screen installment in 2020. The third entry in 2024 became the series' highest-grossing entry to date, taking in nearly $500 million worldwide.
