Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) advised users to exercise caution with accounts impersonating the National Authentication System (Tawtheeq) with the intent of obtaining personal and banking information from individuals.
The impersonating accounts do this via fraud calls, untrustworthy social media accounts, and fake links.
MCIT reiterated that all official information and services are provided through the official website, and that any other website or platform claiming to represent the National Authentication System is fraudulent.
The Ministry urged caution and to verify the authenticity of any link before clicking to protect your personal data.
