Doha, Qatar: Simaisma and Al Daayen Youth Centre has launched the fifth edition of the “Fereej Boys” Championship, taking place from February 26 to March 6, 2026, with the participation of more than 16 teams competing across three age categories: 10–12 years, 13–14 years, and 15–17 years.
The annual tournament brings together a broad spectrum of youth institutions, reflecting strong community engagement. Participating entities include Barzan Youth Centre and Doha Youth Centre, in addition to schools such as Simaisma Primary School and Al Khor Model School for Boys, alongside several sports academies.
Nawaf Mohammed Al Mudhahka, President of Simaisma and Al Daayen Youth Centre, emphasised that the championship goes beyond being a sporting competition. “The ‘Fereej Boys’ Championship is not merely a sports contest, but a comprehensive educational and national initiative aimed at building well-rounded personalities among our youth, combining athletic skills with moral values, discipline, and teamwork,” he said.
He added that the centre is committed to providing a safe and motivating environment to discover and nurture young talents, in alignment with the vision of the Ministry of Sports and Youth to empower young people and promote sports as a way of life. Al Mudhahka noted that the participation of youth centres and schools reflects a spirit of community integration in serving younger generations. “We will continue to launch quality initiatives that contribute to preparing an aware generation, physically and ethically distinguished, capable of serving the nation and contributing to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added.
As part of the championship’s educational dimension, an awareness workshop will be organised on the occasion of Qatar Environment Day in cooperation with Friends of the Environment Centre. The workshop aims to enhance environmental awareness among participants, promote sustainability concepts, encourage the preservation of public facilities, and reinforce responsibility toward the environment.
