A Lucknow school is offering extra marks to students who can bring their parents to school to cast their votes in the UP assembly elections.
A Lucknow school, Christ Church College, has offered to give students extra marks for them to bring their parents to school and cast their votes in the UP assembly elections 2022 which is underway now.
The Anglo-Indian school principal told ANI that students who are able to bring their parents to cast their vote at the school would be given 10 extra marks.
“We'll reward 10 marks to the students whose parents will actively participate in polling by casting votes on Feb 23 (& further). Through this, we aim to bring voters' turnout to 100%. It'll also help weak students pass exams,” stated Rakesh Kumar, Principal of Christ Church College, Lucknow, to ANI.
The principal said that this scheme was introduced to ensure a higher vote count and a 100% voter turnout.
The principal also said that the extra marks may help weak students advance in their classes.
The Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022 is currently underway and many schools are used as polling centres for the purpose of which Christ Church College is one.
The elections are being conducted in seven phases from February 10 to March 7.
