IndiaToday.in has exclusively learnt from sources that a song from upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan took 300 dancers and 25 days to shoot. The film is directed by Mani Ratnam.

Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) is a historical drama helmed by filmmaker Mani Ratnam. The makers of the upcoming film had recently released its grand trailer, and it was widely loved by the audience. Ever since, the expectations of the audience has increased. Ponniyin Selvan is a two-part film which is based on the epic book of the same name, authored by Kalki. The film, which is set to hit the big screens on September 30, features an ensemble star cast including Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and Jayam Ravi. Now, IndiaToday.in has exclusively learned a small but fascinating dope about Ponniyin Selvan.

Ponniyin Selvan has been made on a lavish scale and its visuals are spectacular. It was in the making for two years and was completed in September 2021. Ponniyin Selvan had wrapped up production in September last year and was shot across India. Recently, a source close to the film divulged IndiaToday.in some interesting details. The team shot an extravagant song with 300 dancers. They had 100 dancers only from Mumbai. "It took more than 25 days to shoot that one song, and between six to seven schedules to only complete the song shoot. It's a grand set and song, which will be released soon," said the source.

Ponniyin Selvan has been director Mani Ratnam's dream project for over a decade. He tried to make the film several times, but his plans never materialised due to budget and casting constraints. Now, he has achieved his dream as Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 is all set for release on September 30. PS-1 is slated for a worldwide release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film also features Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R. Parthiban. Presented by Subaskaran’s Lyca Productions, PS-1 is jointly produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The music is composed by AR Rahman.
