Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, on Saturday, May 21, has been named as the Young Player of the Season in the Premier League. The 21-year-old won the award for the second year in a row as his team is looking to win the ongoing edition of the Premier League. City are currently sitting on top of the points table with 90 points from 37 matches.
Their last match is against Aston Villa on Sunday, May 22 at the City of Manchester Stadium. Foden, in the meantime, received the most combined votes from a Premier League panel and the public. The Young Turk defeated seven other players, including the likes of Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Trent Alexander-Arnold on his way to winning the award.
After winning the award, Foden was over the moon and he showed a lot of gratitude. "I am very proud to have won this award for a second season in a row. There are so many talented young players in the Premier League and it is a real honour to win it again," Foden was quoted as saying.

Former English footballer Gary Linekar also congratulated Foden for the stupendous achievement. The 61-year-old Linekar took to Twitter and wrote, “Congratulations to @PhilFoden on being voted Premier League young player of the year. A truly wonderfully talented footballer. The competition was tough with so many fabulous young players. It’s a very exciting time for English football.”
