The accused, identified as Dhariyappa, a small-time businessman, allegedly killed his wife, Kavya after a heated argument at their residence. According to the police, they received information about the incident on Thursday afternoon and rushed to the spot.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had frequent disputes over financial and domestic issues. During one such argument, Dhariyappa allegedly assaulted Kavya and repeatedly kicked her on the neck, leading to her death, the police said. The accused was subsequently taken into custody.
“A case is being registered. The motive appears to be financial and domestic issues. Further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact circumstances,” a senior police officer said.
The police said they are continuing the probe to gather more evidence and verify the sequence of events leading to the crime.
