Eight-month-old infant dies after falling into water sump in Gandipet
An eight-month-old boy died after accidentally falling into a water sump at Gandipet village in Narsingi on Wednesday, police said. The deceased was identified as Sourabh Jadhav.
The incident came into light following a complaint by the child’s father, Tejas Srikanth Jadhav, a labourer. Jadhav stated that he, along with his brother and mother, had left home in the morning, leaving his wife Radhika with their infant son.
Around 1 p.m., when Jadhav’s brother returned home, the noise woke Radhika, who then realised that the child was missing. During a search of the premises, the family found the lid of the water sump open. Upon checking inside, the infant was discovered floating in the water.
The child was immediately pulled out and rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Preliminary findings suggest that the infant accidentally fell into the sump. The complainant has stated that there is no suspicion of foul play. The Narsingi police registered a case. After completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the parents. Further investigation is underway.
