Man arrested for sexually harassing 8-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu

A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly sexually harassing an 8-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu.
A 47-year-old man in Tamil Nadu was arrested on Saturday for allegedly sexually harassing an 8-year-old girl under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The man was identified as Ratnam, a native of Coimbatore.
Ratnam had leased a piece of land from the victim’s father. The harassment started in March 2021 when he stopped the girl on her way to play with her friends. He started sexually harassing her after showing her child pornographic content.
The harassment came to light on Friday when the girl visited a medical camp held by the primary health centre at her school. She informed the doctor at the camp about the harassment she had been facing.

Following her admission, the doctor examined the girl. The examination revealed that the girl had been subjected to sexual harassment.
Afterwards, the doctors informed the girl’s family. The family filed a complaint against the accused at the all women police station in Thudiyalur.
A case was registered against Ratnam based on the case and he was arrested under the POCSO act.
