Former Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sitaram Kunte on Thursday told the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that the Maharashtra government took serious note of the report of then state Intelligence Department chief Rashmi Shukla, which alleged involvement of agents in transfer posting of police officers.
Kunte appeared before the ED in connection with the case against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh related to the transfer posting issue and money laundering.
Kunte said that former DGP Subodh Jaiswal was asked to submit evidence and proposal taking action against delinquent police officers but the proposal or evidence was not sent.

Kunte referred to the report by Rashmi Shukla which was submitted in July 2020. He said that Shukla intercepted certain phones to verify involvement of agents in transfer postings of police officers, following which she submitted the report to DG Police. The DG Police then forwarded the report to Kunte asking him to bring it to the notice of the chief minister.
Kunte said that during the period of interception, it was found that no transfer posting of police officers had happened due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After approval of the chief minister, a letter was sent to DG Police Subodh Jaiswal wherein it was informed that the government had taken serious note of the material provided in the report and further directed DG to submit concrete evidence any proposals for taking action against delinquent police officers.
However, no proposals were received from the DGP against any particular police officer, he said.
