Devotees in Madurai celebrated Krishna Janmashtami with special pujas, bhajans, keertans and prasadam. Temples were decorated with flowers and children dressed up as Lord Krishna and Radha. Households also held special celebrations.
Special pujas marked the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, across the city on Wednesday. Devotees offered prayers and participated in singing ‘bhajans’ and ‘keertans’ to Lord Krishna. Temples were decked up with flowers and arrangements were made for the distribution of prasadam for the devotees. Special celebrations were held in many households. Children were dressed up as Lord Krishna and Radha at many places.
