Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announces Komuravelli railway station's completion and outlines Hyderabad's development plans across multiple sectors.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday said the Centre was committed to accelerating Hyderabad’s development through coordinated efforts across sectors, including public services, infrastructure, transport, health and education.
Speaking to the media after the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, Mr. Reddy said the long-pending Komuravelli railway station, near the Mallanna Swamy temple, was nearing completion and would soon be dedicated to the public by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said the Centre was examining a proposal to provide MMTS connectivity from Hyderabad to Yadagirigutta, with an estimated investment of ₹500 crore. Mr. Reddy said the meeting resulted in a clear action plan for the next three months, with a focus on gas supply to households, transport and industry, housing for the poor, healthcare, drinking water supply and road connectivity.
He said the Centre was strengthening facilities in government schools, including mid-day meals, textbooks, uniforms, smart classrooms and digital learning. In the healthcare sector, steps were being taken to improve dialysis services, vaccination coverage and access to advanced medical equipment in hospitals across Hyderabad.
With summer approaching, departments have been asked to implement a summer action plan, particularly to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply and readiness of school infrastructure. He said several major infrastructure projects were being planned, including high-speed rail corridors and elevated corridors connecting Hyderabad with Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune. Of the seven high-speed rail corridors announced nationally, three are proposed to be centred around Hyderabad.
The Minister said the Centre would approve development proposals sent by the State government in line with prescribed guidelines and reiterated its commitment to making Hyderabad a more developed and liveable city, according to a press release.
