KKCCI urges the Karnataka government for significant budget allocations to enhance infrastructure and industrial projects in Kalyana Karnataka.
A delegation of the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Monday and urged the State government to make substantial budgetary allocations for key infrastructure and industrial projects in the Kalyana Karnataka region in the forthcoming State Budget.
KKCCI president Sharanabasappa M. Pappa and honorary secretary Shivraj V. Inginshetty represented the Chamber at the pre-Budget consultation meeting with industry associations convened by the Chief Minister.
During the interaction, they submitted a detailed memorandum outlining the region’s developmental priorities and long-pending demands.
The Chamber strongly pressed for the allocation of adequate funds for the PM-MITRA Mega Textile Park in Kalaburagi saying that though the project has been announced, there has been limited visible progress on the ground. Given that Kalyana Karnataka is a cotton-rich belt, timely budgetary support for infrastructure development is crucial to attract investments and generate large-scale employment, the delegation said.
KKCCI also referred to the Govind Rao Committee Report which has identified Kalyana Karnataka as one of the most backward regions in the State, with six districts categorised as most backward.
The Chamber urged the State government to implement the committee’s recommendations in letter and spirit and ensure region-specific allocations to address historical imbalances.
