“From the bottom of the Met steps, where Kim got into the dress, to the top where it was returned, the dress was in the same condition it started in,” said Ripley’s VP of Publishing and Licensing Amanda Joiner in a statement on Thursday.
In a new turn of events in the Kim Kardashian-Marilyn Monroe dress hulabaloo, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! has claimed that the star did not damage the dress. A viral Instagram post by Marilyn Monroe’s Collection claimed that Kim caused damage to the iconic dress worn by the late actress on John F Kennedy’s birthday in 1962.
Kim Kardashian opted for the artifact for the Met Gala this year. She just wore it for a matter of minutes and changed into a replica gown as soon as she made it up the steps, according to a report by the New York Post. As per Ripley’s, a report on the dress’ condition in 2017 states “a number of the seams are pulled and worn. This is not surprising given how delicate the material is. There is puckering at the back by the hooks and eyes.”
“From the bottom of the Met steps, where Kim got into the dress, to the top where it was returned, the dress was in the same condition it started in,” said Ripley’s VP of Publishing and Licensing Amanda Joiner in a statement on Thursday.
The 41-year-old businesswoman went body-makeup free to the event. She showed the utmost respect for the garment, a representative for Ripley’s told The Post.
On Monday, the Marilyn Monroe Collection Instagram account shared photos showing new damage to the dress, such as missing crystals and others hanging on by a thread.
