Kartik Aaryan’s next titled ‘Naagzilla’; motion poster out

Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan to play a shape-shifting Naag in comedy film Naagzilla produced by Karan Johar

We had previously reported that Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan and ace producer Karan Johar are joining hands for a comedy film franchise helmed by director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba of Fukrey fame. On Tuesday (April 22), the makers announced that the film’s titled Naagzilla.

Johar’s production banner, Dharma Productions, unveiled a motion poster to announce the news. According to a press release from the makers, Kartik will be seen playing an “avatar of Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, an Ichadaari (shape‑shifting) Naag,” in this comedy adventure.

In the motion poster, Kartik, with snake-like skin, wearing blue jeans, can be seen standing in a snake-ridden cave, looking over a cityscape. It seems the film is based on the characters of the Nagas from ancient Hindu mythology. Nagas are a divine race of half-human, half-serpent beings, considered to have shape-shifting abilities.

Naagzilla, which has a script written by Gautam Mehra, was earlier reported to be “a high-concept comedy trilogy.” The latest press release states that the film is an entertainer that “blends fantasy, folklore, and full-on fun.”

The film is produced by Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Lamba, and Sujit Jain under the Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films banners. Naagzilla is slated to release in theatres on August 14, 2026, on the occasion of Nag Panchami.

Notably, this is Kartik’s second collaboration with Dharma Productions, following their upcoming Valentine’s Day release, Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri.
