Watch the eerie trailer for 'Hokum,' where Adam Scott faces a witch haunting in a mysterious Irish inn.
The first full trailer has been released for Hokum, the latest horror feature from Irish filmmaker Damian McCarthy, offering a glimpse at a haunted inn and a series of unsettling visions that threaten to unravel its troubled protagonist.
The film stars Adam Scott as Ohm Bauman, an American horror novelist who travels to Ireland to scatter the ashes of his parents. His trip takes a darker turn when he checks into a remote inn rumored to be haunted, particularly its honeymoon suite, which locals believe is tied to a mysterious witch.
According to the official synopsis, Bauman becomes increasingly disturbed after hearing stories about the room and begins experiencing strange visions. When a sudden disappearance occurs at the inn, he is forced to confront hidden aspects of his own past.
The trailer’s eerie atmosphere is typical of McCarthy’s films, showing shadowy corridors, unsettling guests and glimpses of bizarre figures that haunt the property. The preview also hints at connections to the folklore-driven horror style that defined McCarthy’s earlier work.
McCarthy previously directed Caveat and Oddity, both of which gained attention for their slow-building tension and uncanny valley horror imagery.
The ensemble cast of Hokum also includes Peter Coonan, David Wilmot and Florence Ordesh. The film is produced by Neon, which has recently backed several high-profile genre releases.
