Karnataka CET 2025: One more incident related to ‘sacred thread’ in Sagar, police register case

Sagar police in Shivamogga district of Karnataka have registered a case following a complaint by a student who alleged that he was told to remove his ‘sacred thread’ before entering the CET examination hall in Sagar on April 16.
The student informed his parents only after reading about incidents related to the ‘sacred thread’ in Shivamogga and other places in the media.
According to his complaint, registered on April 19, during the physical examination of candidates, the staff told him to remove his ‘sacred thread’. He obeyed the order and entered the examination hall at the government pre-university college in Sagar town. After he came out of the hall, he noticed that the ‘sacred thread’ had been thrown into the dustbin.
The parents approached the police on April 19 and filed a complaint.
Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegade has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The CCTV camera footage is being examined.
However, sources said, there is no CCTV camera footage of the incident. It is not clear whether CCTV cameras covered the area where the alleged incident occurred.
