Owing to the rising Covid-19 cases, the cinema halls were shut in Delhi. Karan Johar has now appealed to the Delhi government to reopen them.
The Delhi government decided to shut down the cinema halls on December 28 due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. This led to the makers of many films postponing the release of their films. If cinema halls continue to stay closed, this will affect the multiplexes, which were trying to regain their lost business after multiple Covid-induced lockdown. On December 30, filmmaker Karan Johar took to Twitter to request the Delhi government to allow cinema halls to operate. We urge the Delhi Government to allow cinemas to operate. Cinemas are equipped with better ability to ensure a hygienic environment while maintaining social distancing norms as compared to other out-of-home settings. @LtGovDelhi @ArvindKejriwal @OfficeOfDyCM #cinemasaresafe
