Kanimozhi charges Palaniswami of threatening her with jail for criticising him

DMK MP Kanimozhi charged AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami of threatening her by saying that she would be imprisoned again just for questioning him.

Addressing an election campaign seeking votes for DMK candidate Thangam Thennarasu at Tiruchuli here on Friday, Ms. Kanimozhi said this behaviour of Mr. Palaniswami was akin to that of the BJP which was setting the Central Bureau of Investigation, Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate against its critics and leaders of the Opposition parties.

“What difference is there between the BJP and the AIADMK? That’s why we are saying that the AIADMK has become Amit Shah DMK,” the MP said.

Ms. Kanimozhi also dared Mr. Palaniswami and said that she would not be cowed down by such threats. She said that she should not be underestimated for being a woman. “I am the daughter of Karunanidhi, who had defeated 100s of leaders, like you,” she said.

The MP clarified that it was a fact that a case was foisted against her. “But, I was acquitted in the case. No case is pending against me. That the case is on appeal is different,” she said.

She added that she would criticise him more if he continued to threaten her.
