Odisha sports secretary confident new hockey stadium in Rourkela will be completed in time
The success of the men’s hockey Junior World Cup during COVID times at the Kalinga Stadium here can be a ‘dry run’ for the senior men’s World Cup to be held at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela in January 2023, says Odisha Sports Department Secretary R. Vineel Krishna.
Krishna expressed confidence that the state, which hosted the 2018 World Cup here, would be able to hold the 2023 event successfully.
“It's a long way. Let's hope by then COVID will not be there. But assuming that there is a COVID situation by that time, since we have hosted a JWC, it is actually a dry run for us for that event,” Krishna told The Hindu.
The Opposition Congress demanded that the government open the Gandhi Vatika Museum, depicting Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and freedom struggle, built at a cost of ₹85 crore in Jaipur’s Central Park last year, during the Congress-led regime in Rajasthan. The museum has not been opened to the public, reportedly because of the administration’s engagements with the State Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
