Clive Myrie shared a picture of his vehicle stuck in traffic while leaving Ukraine’s Kyiv with a heartbreaking caption detailing the effects of the Russian invasion.

Homes destroyed, families separated, people running around for a safe passage to neighbouring countries - that is the situation in Ukraine currently, where Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a special military operation on February 24. The war, now in its 12th day, has caused 1.5 million people to flee Ukraine. Amid the conflict, several journalists have been risking their lives as they brought in real-time updates from the war-torn areas. One of them was BBC presenter Clive Myrie who had been reporting from Ukraine’s Kyiv. The 57-year-old stayed in Ukraine till the very last moment, until he was forced to leave. He shared heartbreaking posts on Twitter while leaving the war-torn country and it has gone viral online.

Clive shared a picture of his vehicle stuck in traffic while leaving Ukraine’s Kyiv with a heartbreaking caption detailing the effects of the Russian invasion. “It was a long day of driving and queuing to get out of Kyiv. Imagine having to leave all you know in a hurry because you’re being shelled! What do you pack? Do pets come too? It’s freezing cold and you pray those in neighbouring countries will welcome you, not despise you,” wrote Clive.

“My thoughts are with the 1 million who’ve fled #Ukraine because they might be killed. The millions who fled #Syria and many other millions escaping repression, poverty, war. They all pray they’ll be welcomed in other countries as human beings. That’s all they ask,” he wrote in another post.

Take a look:
