Johnny Depp’s Instagram account saw a spike in followers since the legal battle between him and Amber Heard started. The actor’s followers increased from 5.9 to 16.9 million.

Johnny Depp has a massive fan following and that’s quite evident from his social media handles. Amid the legal case with his ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor is garnering more love and support from his fans around the world. The actor made his Instagram debut back in April of 2020. As soon as he joined the photo and video sharing app, the actor’s fan following racked up to over 1 million. Soon after, the Libel case began that also involved Amber Heard. Johnny later lost to The Sun. From April 11, 2022, begin the defamation case trial against Amber. Let’s take a look at the stats of Johnny’s rising popularity on Instagram amid the legal battle.

When the Libel case began in 2020, Johnny’s Instagram following was somewhere around 5.8 million. Within a year, his account saw a spike of about 10 million followers. If you think that’s a huge jump, let’s take a look at the stats of the year 2022. Currently, in May 2022, when Amber Heard’s Instagram following is at 4.5 million, Johnny, on the other hand, crossed over 16 million followers. To be precise, he has 16.9 million followers currently.

Johnny Depp shared his last post on February 11, 2022. “In 2019, just before the pandemic struck, we made a film about giving a voice to those that have none. Such a theme feels more important today than ever. With all love and respect to the strong, beautiful and brave people of Minamata. Their story is out in U.S. theaters today (sic),” he captioned his post.

Amid the legal battle, Johnny fans are reacting to his old posts and showering love and support upon him. “The entire world stands with you, Johnny! Love from India! #justiceforjohnnydepp (sic),” commented a fan. “We ARE NOT supporting you on this occasion because we love you as an actor. We are supporting you because you are telling the TRUTH . #justiceforjohnnydepp (sic),” said another.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met on the sets of The Rum Diary in 2009 and started dating a few years later. In 2015, they got married. In 2016, Heard filed for divorce and alleged that Depp had physically abused her during their marriage under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Depp denied the accusations and stated that Heard was "attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse." Their divorce was finalised in 2017.
