Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial has now got turned into a film titled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial. The film's trailer is unintentionally hilarious.

Just four months after the verdict was rendered in Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial, the case has been sensationalised even further with a film based wholly on it. And well... the trailer of the film titled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial will absolutely leave you chuckling. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial became one of the most talking points earlier this year. The actor eventually won the lawsuit he had filed against his ex-wife Amber. Johnny Depp had sued Amber Heard for defaming him in a 2018 Washington Post article, where she called herself a survivor of domestic abuse. Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial debuts exclusively on the free Tubi streaming service on September 30.

Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial stars Mark Hapka and Megan Davis as the warring exes, with the former sporting Depp's signature goatee, ponytail, and sunglasses and the latter mimicking Heard's much-discussed outfits. The trailer features familiar touchstones from the trial. We can spot Depp's courtroom nonchalance, the intense scrutiny of Heard on social media, and yes, even a reference to James Franco — who was included on Heard's witness list but never called to testify. "It's day one of the Depp vs. Heard defamation trial; though fans are showing support for both sides, there's clearly a favorite here," a reporter says in the trailer. Hot Take also stars Melissa Marty as Depp's fan-favorite lawyer Camille Vasquez and Mary Carrig as Heard's attorney Elaine Bredehoft.

Watch it here:

According to Variety, Hot Take follows the tumultuous relationship — in and out of court — of Depp and Heard. It also dramatises the two-month defamation trial that concluded on June 1. Hot Take comes from Fox Entertainment’s MarVista Entertainment. The film is written by Guy Nicolucci and directed by Sara Lohman. The film is executive produced by Brittany Clemons, Angie Day, Marianne C. Wunch, Hannah Pillemer and Fernando Szew. Autumn Federici and Kristifor Cvijetic serve as producers under their Ninth House banner.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met on the sets of The Rum Diary in 2009 and started dating a few years later. In 2015, they got married. During that time, Johnny Depp was in a long term relationship with French actress Vanessa Paradis while Amber Heard was dating photographer Tasya Van Ree. Following the split with their respective former partners, the two began secretly dating in 2011. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were engaged in 2014. The news became public when a picture emerged of the actress wearing an ornate engagement ring. They finally got married in 2015 in a very private ceremony on Depp's private island in the Bahamas.

In 2016, Heard filed for divorce and alleged that Depp had physically abused her during their marriage under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Depp denied the accusations and stated that Heard was "attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse." Their divorce was finalised in 2017. Johnny Depp later sued Amber Heard for defamation because of an op-ed she wrote in the Washington Post in 2018. In the op-ed, headlined “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change,” Heard claimed that she was a domestic abuse survivor. However, she did not name Depp.
