
Jio leads subscriber additions in March, Airtel records maximum number of active users

Jio had a total of 422.92 million wireless subscribers followed by Airtel on the second spot with 352.40 million users with Vi having 283.71 users at the end of March 2021. The net additions for Jio’s wireless subscribers was 7.92 million users in March while Airtel added 4.06 million, followed by Vodafone Idea’s 1.09 million subscribers. “The number of telephone subscribers in India increased from 1,187.90 million at the end of February-21 to 1,201.20 million at the end of March-21, thereby showing a monthly growth rate of 1.12%,” TRAI said. Coming to the fixed wireline segment, Jio added 185,345 new connections whereas Airtel gained 74,158 connections for the month of March. The total number of wireline subscribers for Jio and Airtel is 4.8 million and 3.3 million subscribers respectively. Despite adding the maximum number of wireless and wireline subscribers, Jio had the largest chunk of inactive subscribers.
