It is already confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G services in India on October 5 at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) in New Delhi. Telecom operators, including Airtel and Reliance Jio, will be present at the event and showcase their 5G services. Some reports also suggest that Mukesh Ambani, Sunil Bharti Mittal and Kumar Mangalam Birla will be present at the event and launch 5G services together with the PM of India.
As reported by several media outlets, the Prime Minister will launch 5G services provided by Reliance Jio and Airtel at the event on October 1. If you are wondering that 5G services will be available for all users right now it is officially launched, well, that’s not going to be the case. Instead, both Airtel and Jio have already confirmed to launch 5G by Diwali only for certain cities. The country wide rollout will happen only by end of 2023, which is more than a year from now.
To recall, Airtel CEO recently sent a letter to customers stating that 5G will rollout in just a few weeks and that the SIMs are already 5G enabled. Similarly, Jio head Mukesh Ambani announced at the RIL AGM that Jio 5G services will rollout to everyone by December 2023. The company also has plans to launch 5G in four cities by Diwali. These cities include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.
Besides these cities, 5G services are expected to reach 9 other cities before any other part of the country. These cities include:
-Ahmedabad
-Bengaluru
-Chandigarh
