Meanwhile, the 32-year-old victim, who is a divorcee with three children, sustained burn injuries to her right eye and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
As per PTI reports, the accused, identified as Ahmed, used to work at the same factory as the victim and had known her for the past three years.
He had been pestering the victim to marry him for the past many weeks. She, however, repeatedly turned down his proposals.
Furious, the man threw acid at her on Friday at the Sarakki road junction near JP Nagar.
The accused has been arrested by the police and further investigations are on.
Notably, this is the second incident of acid attack in Bengaluru within a month. Earlier, a man, native of West Bengal, allegedly threw acid at his colleague over personal enmity in Cubbonpete.
