In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Jhund director Nagraj Manujle revealed that he didn't have a single penny to watch Amitabh Bachchan's films. He also spoke about working with the veteran actor in Jhund.

Working with Amitabh Bachchan in Jhund has been a dream come true for filmmaker Nagraj Manjule. The director, who has a successful Marathi film, Sairat, to his credit, got a chance to direct Amitabh Bachchan in Jhund. Ahead of the film's release on March 4, Nagraj Manjule exclusively spoke to IndiaToday.in about how, at one time, he did not have a single penny to watch Big B's movies, cut to the veteran actor's first reaction to Jhund's script, and finally, working with the legend.

In conversation with IndiaToday.in, Nagraj Manjule revealed how, at one time, he did not have a single penny to watch Amitabh Bachchan's movies. "Ek baccha jiske pass Amitabh Bachchan ki film dekhne ke liye ek rupaya nahi tha, usko Amitabh Bachchan sir ko direct karne ka mauka mile, ye kitni badi baat hai (That kid who did not have a single penny to watch an Amitabh Bachchan film, got the opportunity to direct him in a film. That's huge). I am very happy. When I worked with sir, I started respecting and loving him even more. He never made us feel that he is Amitabh Bachchan," said Nagraj.

The director further mentioned that when he narrated Jhund's script to Big B, the veteran actor found it to be good. And when he came on board for the film, Nagraj's happiness knew no bounds.

Nagraj Manjule also shared several fond memories from the sets of Jhund. One among them was that of Amitabh Bachchan reciting his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

"We used to hear poems and main jaise Bachchan sir ka fan hoon, vaise hi main Harivansh Rai Bachchan ji ki kavita bhi padhta hoon, unko maanta hoon (Just as I am a fan of Big B, I am also a fan of his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan, I read his poems and I respect him). Whenever I used to have a conversation with Bachchan sir, he would recite his father's poems. We used to talk in between shots and in the vanity van," Manjule recalled, on a parting note.
