Jharkhand man rapes minor stepdaughter after luring her with cold drink

The accused offered to buy a cold drink for his stepdaughter but took her to Dasham Falls where he allegedly raped her. He also threatened the minor girl with dire consequences if she revealed the ordeal to anyone.

A minor girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather in Ranchi, police said on Monday. The accused, a native of Gumla, was booked based on the complaint of the victim. The police said they are on the lookout for the accused who is absconding after being named in the case. The incident came to light when the minor girl told her grandmother about the alleged crime. The girl had been living with her maternal grandmother for two months. On Sunday, the accused reached her grandmother’s home and took her out on the pretext of buying her a cold drink. However, he started driving towards Namkum Road, the girl told police. When she protested, the accused said he had some work ahead, after which he would buy her a cold drink.
