
Jharkhand Budget 2022: New education loan scheme announced

The Jharkhand government has recently announced a number of educational schemes in its 2022 budget.
The Jharkhand government proposed the 'Guruji Credit Card' scheme on Thursday in its budget among a slew of schemes with the goal of benefiting the deprived sections.
The proposed scheme will provide education loans to students for higher education at a nominal interest.Jharkhand's JMM-led government released a Rs 1.01-lakh-crore budget for the fiscal year 2022-23, including increased expenditure on health and infrastructure.
Speaking at a post-budget briefing, Finance Department Principal Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh said "For educational loans, banks ask for collateral security. But, poor students are generally not able to provide it."
"In such cases, they miss the opportunity of higher education. Under Guruji Credit Card, the state government will be the guarantor for such loans," he added.
To help degree-holding students to prepare for competitive examinations, the Mukhyamantri Sarathi Scheme has also been proposed.
Additionally, as per the budget, the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Trans-national Scholarship scheme is going to be extended to students belonging to scheduled caste, backward and minority communities.
Children at Anaganwadi Centers will soon be provided woollen outfits, according to the government.
