J&K's tally of active Covid cases climbs to 13,000; official says situation 'challenging'

With over 2,000 new infections, Jammu and Kashmir now has 13,400 active cases of Covid-19. One official said the situation is 'challenging' compared to the previous year.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday announced the discovery of 28 cases of the new Covid-19 variant in the Jammu region, but none in Kashmir. With the Covid-19 graph witnessing an upward trend in the Union Territory, the J&K administration said that the situation is 'challenging' because the growth rate of positive cases is 8.12 per cent, which is higher than it was last year. “We currently have 13,400 active cases. We had 22,000 positive cases at its peak last year. In April, there were 77 deaths. Cases are increasing at a rate of 8.12 per cent. The mortality rate in J&K is 1.38 per cent. When compared to April of last year, the situation is difficult,” said Attal Duloo, Financial Commissioner in the J&K Health Department.More Related News
