LG has decided to exit the smartphone business but the users of its phones do not need to worry right now.
LG has officially exited the smartphone business after several loss-incurring years. While that is bad news for the company and the market, LG phone users do not have to worry much right now. LG confirmed that it will continue supporting its existing phones with software updates for as many as two-three years. But back then, there was no clarity on this assurance. Until now. LG has announced the list of smartphones that will receive Android 12 and Android 13, in addition to revealing more information about the Android 11 rollout on its South Korean and German websites. In line with what is confirmed, LG will roll out successive Android updates to high-end smartphones as its phone business goes for a toss. And this list becomes extremely short when it comes to Android 13. So, while Android 11 will be available to the maximum number of LG handsets, Android 12 rollout will be for fewer phones. And finally, the Android 13 update will be available on just three smartphones, and these three are the most premium ones from the lot. In addition to mentioning the names of these phones, LG has also shared the status of the software rollout.
