iPhone users should double-check before joining some WiFi networks as it can permanently disable their phone’s WiFi. A WiFi bug that was spotted a couple of days ago has been discovered again. As per a new report by cybersecurity researcher Carl Schou, the WiFi ID named ‘%p%s%s%s%s%n’ disables Wi-Fi services on an iPhone. The previous bug stopped the iOS devices from connecting to WiFi networks, but this one breaks the WiFi system on phone. Cybersecurity researcher Carl Schou tweeted saying, “You can permanently disable any iOS device's WiFI by hosting a public WiFi named %secretclub%power. Resetting network settings is not guaranteed to restore functionality.#infosec #0day." The researcher discovered that if any iPhone user connects to a WiFi network with the name “%p%s%s%s%s%n”, then they may never get to use WiFi ever on their phone. Another malicious WiFi network that was found is named “%secretclub%power”.
