Injured cobra treated at Telangana hospital; rescuer to release it after recovery

An injured Cobra was spotted in Telangana’s Wanaparthy town. Krishna Sagar, a local snake handler, was called to safely take it to the hospital. At the hospital, an X-ray scan revealed that the snake had a broken bone, and a plaster cast was applied to help it heal.

Dharmayya, a resident of Wanaparthy town in Telangana, found a cobra while laying the foundation stone for his house on Sunday, March 20. He noticed that the serpent was injured and not able to move.

He immediately called Krishna Sagar, a home security guard by profession. However, he is a well-known face in Wanaparthy district for rescuing snakes.

The injured snake was taken to the local veterinarian, Anjaneyu clinic, where an X-ray was suggested by the doctor. Dr Pagidala Srinivas Reddy took an X-ray of the snake at his hospital and a plaster cast was applied to the snake.

The rescuer announced that once the cobra has recovered, it will be released back into its natural habitat.

Cheerla Krishna Sagar, the 42-year-old home security constable, founded the Sagar Snake Society, and his tryst with a snake is also unique. While working with his father in his field, he used to kill serpents and had gotten bitten once also.

Later, he realised that not all snakes are poisonous and not all of them were a danger to humans. Since then, he has been a saviour for snakes in Wanaparthy, and in 2012, he formed the Sagar snake society and rescued snakes in Wanaparthy.

A society with over 35 members, it not only rescues snakes but also creates awareness among people.
