A tech content creator from Pune has commended the efforts of Qatar Airways and airport staff following the closure of airspace due to the ongoing Middle East crisis involving the US, Israel, and Iran.
As tensions flared across the Middle East, leaving thousands of passengers stranded and flights grounded, a tech creator from Pune has shared a rare story of calm amid the chaos.
Ershad Kaleebullah tagged Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport in an X post after finding himself stuck in Doha due to regional airspace closures triggered by the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict.
The Middle East remained on the boil for a third day on Monday as Iran expanded its retaliation against the joint US-Israeli strikes that eliminated its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and wiped out several senior figures of the Iranian military and political circles.
Calling it "an appreciation post", Ershad detailed how the situation was handled once flights were disrupted. “Food coupons were distributed to everyone at the airport. You could just redeem them at the food court. For all meals, no less,” he wrote, highlighting the immediate support extended to passengers.
He recounted how he and others initially planned to wait it out inside an airport lounge.
“We had decided to stay at the lounge until the airspace opened. In fact, we went off to sleep at 10:30pm itself. At 12:30am we were all woken up by the lounge staff and asked to move to the transfer desk. The entire airport was getting evacuated, including the staff. Everything was handled smoothly,” he shared.

On March 18, Israel struck a gas field in Iran. Tehran responded in a matter of hours, striking refineries in several Gulf countries. What explains this sharp, quick counter-attack capability of a country whose military infrastructure has supposedly been severely degraded? The answer lies in a cheap drone and a dispersed military.
