The Indian Army's  'Army HPCL Kashmir Super 50' initiative is helping students in North Kashmir in pursuing their dreams of medical education.

Under the 'Army HPCL Kashmir Super 50' initiative, the Indian Army is preparing students for medical competitive examinations free of cost in the North Kashmir area. Financial support for students who get admission to elite medical colleges is also being provided by the Indian Army in terms of sponsoring their fees.

The situation in North Kashmir is returning to normal as the prevailing conditions improve, such as the reduction in terror occurrences and an increase in the number of pupils attending school, said Major General SS Slaria, GOC, Kilo Force while speaking to the news agency ANI.

"In North Kashmir, the security situation is stable. It is moving towards normalcy. Once you look at the benchmarks, there are many positives," said the major general.

"Terror instances are going down. Incidents of 'Hartaals' are going down. The tourism sector is looking up with better arrivals of tourists, and more students are going to schools," he added.Remarking further, he said, "The young have to choose their heroes well. If they choose them well, they will be on the right path."

Explaining the project, a teacher at the Indian Army-sponsored institute, Wahid Farooq, said that as a part of the initiative, there are 30 boys and 20 girls studying in the coaching institute free of cost.

Adding further, he said, "The project was converted from Super 30 to Super 50 in 2021, after which girls were also inducted. We have 30 boys and 20 girls studying here and they are provided with free-of-cost facilities to pursue their ambitions."

"We started this project in 2018 and visited every school and conducted written examinations to shortlist students for the coaching programme. In 2018, we took 30 students out of which 25 cleared the entrance examination for the medical colleges," he further told ANI.
