INDW vs AUSW: India defeated Australia by five wickets in the second ODI on Friday to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing 252, Georgia Voll's 101 helped the Aussies romp home with 83 balls to spare.
India Women made a disappointing start to their new era after winning last year’s World Cup, as Australia clinched the ongoing three-match ODI series. On Friday, February 27, India suffered a five-wicket defeat in the second ODI at Bellerive Oval, Hobart, with Australia chasing down 252 with 83 balls to spare, powered by Georgia Voll’s second ODI century.
The victory provided some relief for Australia, coming four months after their loss to India in the Women’s World Cup semifinals at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Meanwhile, Alyssa Healy will cherish her farewell ODI series, having led her team to a series win. With this triumph, Australia also secured a 4-2 lead in the multi-format series.
Australia vs India, 2nd Women's ODI Highlights
After opting to bat first, India managed 251 for nine, a total that ultimately proved insufficient against a dominant Australian batting line-up.
Pratika Rawal, who had struggled with a duck in the series opener, bounced back with a half-century, scoring 52 from 81 balls. Her innings, however, ended in frustration when she was run out following a mix-up with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who herself made a valuable 54 from 70 balls.
