India Today Impact: 20-year-old international footballer, Sangeeta Soren, has been promised financial aid and coaching job by Jharkhand government. India Today had reported that the young footballer was working in a brick kiln to help her family make ends meet in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
International footballer Sangeeta Soren is all set to receive financial aid with Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren taking notice of the Jharkhand athlete's struggle in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. @dc_dhanbad will undertake work for Day Boarding Football Centre in Dhanbad where Sangeeta will be absorbed as a coach/trainer ensuring regular income & motivation to women players. Under leadership of @HemantSorenJM, state Govt is strongly committed to welfare of sportspersons pic.twitter.com/hKqMPElqNX Hemant Soren took to social media and said that the Block Development Officer of Sangeeta's village, Bagmara had visited the footballer and offered financial assistance. The chief minister also said that Rs 1 lakh will be offered to Sangeeta, who had been working in a brick kiln to support her family financially. He also said Sangeeta will be offered a job as the coach at a football training facility in Dhanbad to ensure the young footballer gets regular income. Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju also said the Sports Ministry has contacted Sangeeta and that financial aid will be provided to the 20-year-old footballer who represented India at the U18 and U19-level international competitions.More Related News
