Tensions have gripped Leicester and Birmingham after violent protests erupted between Hindu and Muslim groups.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that its High Commission in London has condemned the violence that broke out in Leicestor and Birmingham and is continuously in touch with the authorities of the United Kingdom to prevent any further attack.
"Our high commission in London has issued a statement condemning the violence. Our high commission continues to be in touch with the UK authorities - diplomatic as well as security authorities- to prevent further attack and take action against the perpetrators," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.
External affairs minister S Jaishankar met his British counterpart James Cleverly at a meeting in New York and took up the issue of the protests that have broken out between members of the Hindu and Muslim communities in Leicester and Birmingham.

Tensions have gripped Leicester and Birmingham after violent protests erupted between Hindu and Muslim groups following an Asia Cup cricket match held somewhere near the end of last month, in which India defeated Paskitan.
Both the UK police and leaders of the Hindu and Muslim communities in Leicester have issued a statement appealing for peace and an immediate end to the violence that has rocked the city.
