
India condoles Khamenei's death, Foreign Secretary meets Iranian envoy

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, on behalf of the Indian government, signed the book of condolence for Iran's erstwhile Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Thursday. Khamenei, the 86-year-old former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, had been ruling the country since 1989 and was killed in a combined military operation launched by the United States and Israel in the early hours of Saturday. Misri's action came as part of India's first reaction to the Supreme Leader's death.

As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
