Hyderabad police implement AI-driven monitoring to combat cyber harassment and misinformation, enhancing real-time response and public safety.
Hyderabad police have begun the deployment of an artificial intelligence-driven platform to monitor, analyse and interpret social media activity in real time, marking a shift from largely manual tracking to automated digital surveillance.
The system, being jointly developed with Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Limited, is designed to track trends across platforms, identify misinformation, detect potential threats and assess public sentiment using advanced AI-driven analytics. Officials say the move comes amid a surge in ‘cyber mob harassment’ cases targeting actors, bureaucrats and other public figures.
For investigators who have spent months manually scanning posts and responding to complaints, the transition is expected to significantly reduce response time. “This initiative is to ensure digital patrolling. We were already monitoring platforms manually, but this tool will make the process largely automated, helping in faster action,” an official familiar with the development said, adding that the platform is in its final stages and is likely to be implemented within the next two to three weeks.
The platform is being designed to detect and flag harmful or objectionable content, including posts linked to abuse, harassment and defamation, as well as misleading narratives and broader concerns such as drug-related and other illegal activities online.
According to police sources, the department shared detailed problem statements and operational requirements with the company, shaping the system’s capabilities. At its core, the platform combines real-time detection of emerging narratives with sentiment analysis to identify potentially harmful online trends at an early stage. These alerts are then escalated for human review, enabling quicker intervention and, where necessary, timely official responses to counter misinformation.
Critics have raised concerns that AI-based sentiment analysis may misinterpret context and flag legitimate criticism as harmful content.

With the national census beginning on April 1, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has been instructed not to draw those who have been functioning as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the City, as enumerators for the census. BLOs in the city are drawn from the Education Department and other areas such as electricity utilities and ASHA workers. These BLOs are currently engaged in voter mapping for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Coming down heavily on the Transport Department officials for overstepping their legal authority in seizing two luxury cars, the High Court of Karnataka, in two separate verdicts, has ordered the initiation of a departmental inquiry against a Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector (SMVI) for illegally seizing cars while setting aside the action of seizure of the vehicles.
