Udupi police offer ₹50,000 reward for information on KCOCA fugitives Manoj Kodikere and Chetan Padil.
The Udupi police have announced a reward of ₹50,000 to those who give information about Manoj Kodikere and Chetan Padil, who have been booked under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA).
The KCOCA was invoked against them following kidnap and release of Tejas, an accused in a cricket betting case.
After finding the involvement of the accused in organised crime, Deputy Superintendent of Police H.D. Kulkarni invoked KCOCA against all nine accused persons. Seven accused persons were secured and produced before the KCOCA special court, which remanded them to prison.
Manoj Kodikere is accused in 18 criminal cases in Mangaluru, while Chetan Padil is accused in 11 cases in Mangaluru and two cases in the Udupi district. Those having information about the accused persons can call Mr. Kulkarni on 9480805422. Names of the informants will be kept confidential, the police said.
The police said the accused persons, following the directions of Manoj Kodikere, kidnapped Tejas, 36, from the Coastal Paradise Hotel in Sastana on November 19, 2025. Soon after, Kodikere called his father, Mohan Das Shetty, and demanded a ransom of ₹3 crore for releasing Tejas. The accused abandoned Tejas the same evening, even before receiving the ransom.
