Pro-Hindu groups protest removal of sacred thread during CET, demand action against officials, criticize Congress government.
Condemning the incident of removal of the sacred thread of students appearing for CET by the invigilation staff, members of the Dharwad Taluk Brahmana Sabha (DTBS) and pro-Hindu organisations staged a protest in Dharwad on Monday.
Condemning the incident, seeking action against those responsible and expressing their anger against the Congress government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the protesters formed a human chain at the Court Circle and then, marched in protest to the Zilla Panchayat office.
They demanded the dismissal of the employees and officials responsible for removal of the sacred thread doing by which they hurt the religious sentiments of students.
Addressing the protestors, Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Arvind Bellad said that cutting the Janivara of Hindu students is an inhuman act.
“Strict action should be taken against the officials who are responsible for the condemnable act. If not, agitation will be intensified,” he said.
MLC Shantaram Siddi said that the Congress government is anti-Hindu. He urged the Congress government to issue clear guidelines to prevent recurrence of such acts. The protestors handed over a memorandum to district in-charge Minister Santosh Lad who was in Dharwad to attend a Janata Darshan and other programmes.
President of DTBS R.D. Kulkarni, former Mayors Hanumant Dambal, Poorna Patil and others took part in the agitation.
