Honda CRF300L patents filed in India
India Today
Honda has filed design patents for the CRF300L dual-sport motorcycle, which could indicate the brand is considering the motorcycle for the Indian market. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Honda 300.
Honda’s CRF series is easily amongst the most sought after marquees in the off-road space. Now, new reports suggest that the CRF brand name may be on the cards for the Indian market. Patent filings suggest that the CRF300L dual-adventure motorcycle’s design has been patented for India. It’s no secret that Honda motorcycles have been trying to make in-roads on the two best performing segments in the premium segment. The first being the neo-classics, where Honda have launched the H’ness CB350 and the CB350 RS. The second has been a slightly ongoing campaign for leeway in adventure space. However, unrealistic pricing pushes the Honda CB500X as well as the Honda Africa Twin out of serious contention in the space despite being objectively good products. That’s where a motorcycle like the dual-sport CRF300L comes into play. For one, it’s unique value proposition, of being the only dual sport motorcycle in a world full of down-size adventure tourers. For those of you wondering, a dual-sport motorcycle is basically an MX motorcycle that’s been manufactured with road legal bits that make it more convenient to get around on. As a result you get an insane 284mm of ground clearance, 21-18 inch wire spoke wheels, 260mm of suspension travel (both front and rear) and an almost 900mm tall seat all packed into a very, very serious off-road machine with direction indicators.
