You are being taken care of by the top-most office of this country.” This is what conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar impersonating as Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla told a jailed business tycoon’s wife Aditi Singh to extort hundreds of crores of rupees.
While the billionaire was in jail, his wife was desperate to secure bail for him. At the same time, the conman was looking to make crores. As the wife spent hours talking to and negotiating with who she believed was a senior government official, the conman wove an intricate web of deceit to make over Rs 200 crore, all the while sitting in a cell of Tihar Jail in the national capital.
