Holy flag hoisted at Palani temple for ‘Thai Poosam’

Marking the commencement of ‘Thai Poosam’ festival at Sri Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani in Dindigul district, one of the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan, the holy flag was hoisted at Periyanayaki Amman Temple on Monday.

The holy flag was hoisted amidst chanting of hymns. Special pujas were conducted to the deity and the kodimaram (flag mast).
The celestial wedding will take place on January 31. On the following day, ‘Thai Poosam’ will be celebrated. It will be followed by the holy car festival. The festival will conclude on February 4 with the ‘Theppa Ther’.
Adequate arrangements are being made by the officials for the smooth conduct of ‘Thai Poosam’ festival. The devotees will be provided with annadhanam, drinking water, toilet facilities, medical assistance and accommodation during the event.
