Holiday for schools, colleges in Dharwad amid rain red alert; PU-3 exams to be held as scheduled

Deputy Commissioners declare holiday due to heavy rains in Dharwad and Uttara Kannada districts, exams to continue as scheduled.
In view of incessant rains and an orange alert being sounded for the Dharwad district, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu G.R.J. has declared a holiday for anganwadis, schools and colleges on Thursday (June 12, 2025).
However, the third annual examinations of the second-year PUC will be held as scheduled. The examination is being held at nine centres in the district, including three centres each in Hubballi and Dharwad and one centre each in Kundgol, Kalaghatagi and Annigeri.
An alert has already been sounded in the villages on the banks of Bennihalla, Tupparihalla and other streams in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner has also directed officials not to leave their headquarters in view of the incessant rains and has appealed to the public to not to venture out unnecessarily as heavy rains were expected for three days.
The district administration has also set up helpline (0836-2445505, 1077) for the general public to contact in case of emergency.
Meanwhile, on account of the red alert, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada district K. Lakshmipriya has declared a holiday for anganawadis, primary and high schools in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar and Bhatkal taluks in the district on Thursday.
